SAH – A hidden epidemic
With 1 in 4 patients dying within 24 hours and up to 26% never making it to hospital, subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) is one of neurology’s most unforgiving emergencies. 1
SAH is one of the most devastating types of strokes, with substantial mortality and high morbidity among survivors. SAH accounts for only 5% of strokes but its impact can be devastating, and with an incidence in the UK of 8 per 100,000 person years, the clinical impact is considerable. 2
